Breathe…

breathe

Hello Ladies.. So happy to see you here.

It’s been a long while since I’ve last blogged in this space. I needed to take a step back from some of my projects to relax and reflect upon what I was doing and how I was going about doing it.

When I first started this blog, it was to eventually be associated with my online shop, the Tickety Boutique, which I had been running as a brick-and-mortar store, prior to my very sudden decision to bring it online.

In hindsight, I realize that it was a rather manic decision that I was not able to sustain. Eventually, my initial energy and enthusiasm waned, as I was faced with some of the hurdles of bringing my once thriving business onto the web.

This blog was intended to be much more than just an accompaniment to the Tickety Boutique. I had really wanted to develop a space where ladies, like yourself, could come to read up on the DIY movement, get tips on blogging and business, learn about other fantastic women who were already successful in their fields.
I feel like I let a lot of people down when I disappeared so suddenly. More than that, I let myself down.

Now that I’ve had many months to reflect and see some things through in my business life, I am ready to return to the blogging table, ready to refocus the blog, and ready to, again, realign my life to meet the goals of this business, both Tickety Blog and Tickety Boutique.

On the blog, you will continue to find stories of inspiring crafters, successful business women, and the ladies who are moving and shaking at whatever it is they do from all over North America, and the world!

I am hoping to maintain some regular features, as I did before.. TBA.. that will answer your questions on a variety of topics, get your creative juices flowing, and have you putting on your action pants! (think: blogging, business, social justice, feminism, & more)

As far as the Boutique, when I was operating out of my brick-and-mortar location, I specialized in vintage dresses.. particularly cotton sun dresses.. from the 60s and 70s. Moving forward, I would like my inventory selection to have a little more modern slant, with a punkier edge, and something more representative of my crafty background.

To that end, I have been working diligently on pulling together spectacular pieces from various distributors and independent sellers. I have even got myself sitting behind the sewing machine again to add my own personalized contribution to the store.

I am so anxious to debut these products to you.. all in due time. But in the meantime, I hope that you will continue to visit me here, on the blog, and hear stories from the creative community that we share.

I haven’t yet decided on a launch date for my new venture. As you may know, in addition to Tickety, I am also involved with 2 other businesses (Epic Penny and Cordially Yours), as well as my volunteer work around the city of Toronto. One might think that I am out of my mind to be extending myself even further with a new (reborn) venture.

The way I think about it, the Tickety Boutique (and the blog) were born of my first online effort, The Rag Boutique, circa 2005. This company was very important to me. It was my first taste of self-employment that would have me coming back again and again in the future.

Even after suffering a few set backs and experiencing some manor of failures with the Blog and Boutique, I feel that these efforts represent a piece of me and I can’t let them die.

Like all of my other ventures, I feel so close to the idea of this company, I am excited about the products that I have assembled for you to enjoy, and I am bursting with stories for the blog that I know you will love.

How could I say no to bringing this company back to life?

So what’s the next step? First things first, I want to totally overhaul the blog, short of tearing apart the theme. I like the look of things, but the organizational structure is all wrong. There is no focus.. or at least, not enough focus. By the time you are reading this, things may have already been torn apart and built back up. If that is the case, I hope you like what you see!

Following that, I would like to get things organized in the store. As of today, I have inventory sourced, but none that is ready to be uploaded online. I hope to pull this all together following the launch of products on Epic Penny (you should really click the link). One thing at a time.. right?!

Next, I should be ready to begin finally assembling all of the wonderful inventory pieces that I am so very excited about, including inventory created by ME at Tickety HQ.

It is an exciting time around here. I am trying to stay calm. Trying to stay organized. So much to do. So little time. Everything has to come together just right to make things fly, just like in any other venture.

I hope that you will join me as I begin this journey.. again.. and hopefully this time, I will be able to see things through. It will be worth the enormous effort in the end. Just you wait and see!

Allison
